Welcome to the Sole Power Blog! The Sole Power Challenge is brought to you by the Town of Vail, the Vail Recreation District, and friends all across the Eagle Valley. We'll post updates on events, prizes, and feature our mileage leaders every week. Have fun and get pedaling, walking, hiking, and running for the planet!

  • CONGRATULATIONS SOLE POWER WINNERS!

    Congratulations to all of our participants on a great season! Thanks for helping us clock OVER 20,000 miles and reducing our carbon footprint by over 20,000 lbs. of CO2.

    Special congratulations to our Sole Power Individual and Team Winners!

    INDIVIDUAL WINNERS - MILES

    Bill Carlson, coming in first with over 1300 miles, spent lots of time on his bike this year, biking to dinner with friends and walking to do LOTS of restaurant inspections. Oustanding Job.

    Coming in second, Mike Phillips aka, 060Roller at a whopping 1247 miles! Mike, let’s hear your story! How’d you do it?

    Not far behind, in third place we have Connie Jorck, aka Connie at an amazing 1218 miles, Great job Connie, how did YOU do it?

    In 4th place, Jessica Foulis, aka jgfoulis at 1060 miles! Great job Jessica, we’d love to hear from you!

    and coming in 5th we have Rob Levine, who I have been bragging about ever since he logged his miles traveling to Denver for a business meeting : Check out Rob’s amazing tale at his blog: “The Rest Of The Story” … www.antlersvail.com/2011/08/13287/ 

    INDIVIDUAL WINNERS - TRIPS

    Not to be overlooked, some of our commuters had shorter trips, but sometimes rode to work just about every day, way to go guys! Tell us how you did it!

    #1 Rachel Van Sloun, aka, rachelvs, 159 trips

    #2 Connie Jorck, 146 trips

    #3 Mike Phillips, 135 trips

    #4 Heidi Schoedel, aka heidi8817,  108 trips

    #5 Kip Tingle, 99 trips

    And Finally, a huge Congratulations to our 2011 TEAM Winners. Remember this year we thought it was only fair to calculate winners based on number of team members. So…drumroll please..

    OVERALL WINNERS FOR NUMBER OF MILES AND TRIPS

    #1 - WEST VAIL LIQUOR MART won the challenge in both MILES AND TRIPS per person with the least amount of participants (5), over 2400 miles!  (By the way, even it we weren’t calculating per person miles, this team clocked the most miles overall anyway!) Great Job Guys!

    #2 - Team Oakes came in second for trips and miles at 82 trips and 595 miles with only 2 participants!  Awesome!

    WINNERS BY # OF MILES PER PERSON ONLY

    In miles, at #3 behind West Vail Liquor Mart and Team Oaks, Vail Mountain School with 3 participants logging  809 miles! - Followed by Beaver Creek Ski School, 6 participants logging over 1300 miles, and the Antlers at Vail, 9 participants, over 1700 miles!

    WINNERS BY # OF TRIPS PER PERSON ONLY  

    Coming in third for trips behind West Vail Liquor Mart and Team Oaks, we have the Truebloods, with 4 participants logging 107 trips, followed by Beaver Creek Ski School logging 156 trips, and Vail Mountain School logging 74 trips.

    Look for the upcoming ad in the Vail Daily recognizing our winners, and don’t forget to send a representative from your team to the October 7th Party at the Vail Chophouse to claim your award and prize!
